Scoring Points

Your 12 horses will score points according to their finishing position in any of the races at the 2010 Cheltenham Festival. The scoring will be:


 Placing   Points 
 Winner 10 
 Second
 3rd
 4th
 5th
 6th

Should a horse fail to complete the course (eg fallers, unseated rider, brought down, pulled up, and so on) - MINUS 2pts.
Bonus points will also be awarded to winning horses, depending on SP, as follows:

 SP   Bonus Points 
 Up to 2-1 (including odds-on shots)
 Over 2-1 and up to 3-1
 Over 3-1 and up to 4-1
 Over 4-1 and up to 5-1
 Over 5-1 and up to 8-1
 Over 8-1 and up to 12-1
 Over 12-1 and up to 20-1
 Over 20-1 10 

  1. Horses selected as Bankers will score double.

  2. If any of the winning SPs are impacted by Rule 4 deductions, these will also apply to the SP bonus.

  3. In the event of a dead-heat for one of the first six places in any race at Cheltenham, both horses will score full points for the places involved.

  4. Should any of your horses run in more than one race at Cheltenham, each finishing position will count for scoring purposes.

  5. Any Cheltenham race that takes place outside the duration of the competition (March 16-19) will not count.

  6. Only results on the day will count for scoring purposes. Points will be awarded / deducted in accordance with the Press Association full order of finish for the race, usually available 45 minutes after the race, any subsequent changes to these statistics will not be reflected in the allocation of points.

  7. The computer will work out each entrant's score at the end of each day of Cheltenham, and a leaderboard will be published daily in the Racing Post and on the Select A Stable website.

  8. The entrant with the highest number of points after the four days will be declared the overall winner and winner of our 1st prize - they will receive a cheque for £15,000. The other prizes will be awarded in accordance with the list set out in the Prizes section. Prizes will not be shared, see terms and conditions for full details of how unique winners for each prize will be decided. Winners of all prizes will be notified within 14 days of the end of Cheltenham.
